Create a Google Play Developer Account

The process to create a Google Play Developer account is much simpler than Apple’s. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Go to the Google Play Console.
  2. Sign in with your Gmail address.
  3. Accept the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement.
  4. Pay the registration fee: a one-time payment of 25 USD to publish all the applications you want. Accepted payment methods are: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover (US only), and Visa Electron (non-US only).
  5. Fill in your account information:
    • Developer name: this name will be visible to users on Google Play. It’s recommended to use your company or application name.
    • Contact email address: used for communication with users.
    • Phone number: in international format (e.g., +1 555 123 4567).
    • Website (optional but recommended): your organization’s official website.
  6. Identity verification: Google may request an identity document (ID card or passport) and business documents (business registration, tax ID, etc.) to validate your account. This step helps strengthen Play Store security.
  7. Account security: it’s highly recommended to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your developer account.

Your Google Play Developer account is now active and you can start publishing your applications on the Play Store!
